This is a child's spoon by Brodrene Lohne of Norway. The hallmark shows 830S for silver fineness, NM for Norsk Monsterb for registered pattern and the mark for Lohne. This spoon would have been used at Christmas time. The handle shows "NISSEN SPISER GROT" which roughly translates to "Santa eats porridge". The top of the handle shows a jolly type man eating with a cat at his feet.
This spoon is 830 solid silver; not plated.
The Christmas celebration consists of many traditions. Milk used to be only a seasonal product, so many people put out porridge for Santa on Christmas Eve. Those who have a barn put out the porridge for the barn Santa. Barn Santa is more picky and can often be in a slightly worse mood than Forest Santa and Father Christmas. The Santa Claus can get grumpy if he doesn't get porridge on Christmas Eve, and then the Santa Clauses can make noise in the barn and mess it up. (source)
Sizes are approximately as marked. Spiral rings can be resized up or down by a size or two, please let me know.

I stamp and form each item by hand with a hammer, so there may be slight variations. It is perfectly imperfect. I take pride in creating a high quality of work, and enjoy the telltale characteristics of hand formed objects. Each is slightly different from the next, creating a totally unique piece for you to enjoy.
Metal stamping is a process where steel shanks with a letter or design on one end (stamps) are hammered into the surface to displace the metal and create an impression.
Please note that I hand stamp each item so there may be some slight variations. Sometimes not all characters will be perfectly aligned as this is the nature of hand stamping - no two will ever be the same!
